Genshin Impact Yae Miko Info Guide – Materials, Release Date, Banner

Sassy fox-queen Yae is about to become a playable character.

We’ve been expecting her, and now she’s finally coming to Genshin Impact: Yae Miko, the pink-haired shrine maiden with the fox ears. Also a publisher of light novels and the Raiden Shogun’s official bestie.

Yae’s arrival was announced on the official Genshin Impact Twitter account on December 31. Thanks to her appearances in the story quests and the info on Honey Hunter, we already know quite a lot about the sassy kitsune. If you want to learn about her abilities or start farming for her Ascension Materials in advance, here’s a handy overview.

Yae Miko Release Date

Yae Miko is expected to arrive in Genshin Impact Version 2.5. However, bear in mind that miHoYo hasn’t confirmed her release date yet. The account has only tweeted her official artwork shortly before Version 2.4 came out, without further details. If miHoYo maintains their usual character reveal pattern though, it’s highly likely that our Grand Narukami Shrine Maiden is part of the next update.

Patch 2.5 should arrive around February 15, which is in line with the six-week update schedule. That means that Yae releases either on February 15 or on March 8, depending on whether she’s part of the first or the second Wish Banner in Version 2.5.

Yae Miko Banner

This won’t come as a surprise to anyone, but Yae Miko is going to be a 5-Star character. That means she’ll be the main prize on a Wish Banner named after her, but it will also cost a lot of Primogems to get her.

We don’t know anything about the 4-Stars featured on this banner yet. Unlike recent 5-Stars Itto and Shenhe, Yae Miko’s reveal wasn’t paired with another new character. Therefore, the 4-Stars on her banner are likely to be characters we haven’t seen in a while, such as Fischl, Xinyan, and Sucrose.

Since miHoYo has maintained the dual Wish Banner system (offering a choice between two 5-Stars, even if one of them is new), it’s expected that Yae Miko’s banner is accompanied by a rerun banner of another 5-Star.

Yae Miko’s Weapon, Element, and Combat Role

Yae Miko is an Electro character using a Catalyst. She’s the eighth Electro character in the game, and the ninth Catalyst user. There are only two other 5-Star Electro characters right now: Keqing and Raiden Shogun. In other words, the head maiden of the Grand Narukami Shrine is rather unique at the moment.

However, her base stats may look a bit… weak, at first glance. Yae’s Attack, Defense, and HP are much lower compared to other 5-Star characters. This isn’t an issue if you look at the rest of her kit, though. Yae Miko is able to increase her own passive damage output and she’s got a high Critical Rate thanks to her Ascension stat (a bonus of 24.2% at level 80).

Just make sure you don’t use her for her Normal and Charged Attacks. Yae is a Sub DPS character who deals constant passive damage with her Elemental Skill. This Skill, which has a cooldown of only four seconds, drops a Sesshou Sakura on the battlefield. The more Sesshou Sakura exist at a given time (maximum of three), the higher their damage will become. The Elemental Burst deals additional direct damage by transforming the active Sesshou Sakura into lightning.

It’s important to know that Yae Miko needs a little more active time compared to other Sub DPS characters. Her Elemental Skill doesn’t appear to come with charges, so instead of dropping three Sesshou Sakura on the field at once, you’ll have to wait a few seconds before dropping the next. This makes it harder to pair her up with active Main DPS characters.

Yae Miko’s Character Ascension Materials

There is a very important thing to consider before spending Primogems on Yae Miko: all of her Ascension materials are from Inazuma. This means you need to have access to the region before you can build her.

If you do have access to Inazuma, there’s nothing to worry about. You’ll only have to unlock Enkanomiya if you haven’t done so (to obtain Dragonheir’s False Fin). Here’s what you need to Ascend Yae Miko, and where to find it:

  • Electro Ascension Materials: Dropped from Electro/multi-Element Bosses. If you’re just going for the Electro materials, the best options are the Electro Hypostasis in the southeastern part of Mondstadt or the Thunder Manifestation on Amakumo Peak. The Bathysmal Vishap Herd in Enkanomiya drops both Electro and Cryo materials, but also the Dragonheir’s False Fin.
  • Old/Kageuchi/Famed Handguard: These are dropped by the Nobushi and Kairagi warriors in Inazuma. Basically, look out for the big guys carrying katanas.
  • Sea Ganoderma: Found on the beaches of every Inazuma island, but especially on the northside of Tatarasuna.
  • Dragonheir’s False Fin: Dropped by the Vishap bosses in Enkanomiya. They can be found on the middle island, Dainichi Mikoshi.

Yae Miko’s Talent Ascension Materials

If you plan to farm Yae’s Ascension Materials, you might want to collect her Talent Level-Up Materials as well. Here’s what you need:

  • Teachings/Guide/Philosophies of Light: Found in the Violet Court Domain, on a small island west of Inazuma City. You can farm this Talent Ascension material on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Old/Kageuchi/Famed Handguard: Same as above: look for Nobushi and Kairagi enemies in Inazuma.
  • Weekly Boss Material: We don’t know what the weekly challenge material is going to be yet. As the other Talent Ascension Materials are the same as Raiden Shogun’s, it could be Molten
  • Moment, which is a Signora drop. No guarantees though.

Who is Yae Miko? Lore and Story

Most Genshin Impact players are already familiar with Yae Miko. In fact, it’s hard not to remember her if you’ve been to Inazuma. Yae is the head maiden of the Grand Narukami Shrine, owner of the Yae Publishing House, and best buddies with Raiden Shogun, Ei. She’s also a kitsune, a fox-woman. We haven’t seen Yae in her fox form yet, but who knows what Genshin Impact 2.5 will bring?

Personality-wise, Yae Miko is a kind but intimidating woman. Many characters in the game have expressed some mild fear for the influential shrine maiden, which may have something to do with her ability to ridicule everyone and everything. When unleashing her sarcastic comments, both Traveler and Raiden Shogun seem to be her favorite targets. Let’s hope she keeps the sass coming when she joins our teams as a playable character!
