Genshin Impact Xinyan Guide: Best Build, Artifacts, Team, & More!

Now that Genshin Impact Patch 1.1 has released all of its new characters, it’s time to take a look at the back half of the duo of additions to the 4-Star tier of characters: Xinyan. This literal rock n’ roll character doesn’t wield a guitar axe like she does in her art, rather, she’s a claymore user with rather explosive abilities. In this guide, we take a look at what her abilities can do, recommend a best build including weapons, artifacts, and a team to support her.

More Genshin Impact:

If you’re a fan of seeing lots of really big damage numbers pop up at once, Xinyan is for you. Though primary ability scales off of DEF, she’s got some really large AOE damage abilities. Sweeping Fever quickly hits all nearby foes with Pyro DMG, then creates a shield based on the number of enemies hit. The more it hits, the stronger it is. The kicker? It also makes her nearly immune to Pyro DMG, absorbing with 250% effectiveness.

Her ultimate, Riff Revolution, launches all nearby enemies with a blast of physical damage, causing explosions which also deal Pryo DMG.

  • Dance on Fire (Basic Attack)
    • Normal Attack: Performs up to four consecutive strikes.
    • Charged Attack: Drains Stamina over time to perform continuous spinning attacks against all nearby enemies. At end of the sequence, perform a more powerful slash.
    • Plunging Attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging enemies along the path and dealing AOE DMG upon impact.
  • Sweeping Fervor (Basic Ability)
    • Xinyan brandishes her instrument, dealing Pyro DMG on nearby enemies, forming a shield made out of her audience’s passion. The shield’s DMG Absorption scales based on Xinyan’s DEF and on the number of enemies hit.
      • Hitting zero or one enemy grants Shield Level 1: Ad Lib.
      • Hitting two enemies grants Shield Level 2: Lead-In.
      • Hitting three or more enemies grants Shield Level 3: Rave, which will also deal intermittent Pyro DMG to nearby enemies.
    • The shield has the following special properties:
      • When unleashed, it infuses Xinyan with Pyro.
      • It has 250% DMG Absorption effectiveness against Pyro DMG.
  • Riff Revolution (Ultimate)
    • Strumming rapidly, Xinyan launches nearby enemies and deals Physical DMG to them, hyping up the crowd. The sheer intensity of the atmosphere will cause explosions that deal Pyro DMG to nearby enemies.
  • The Show Goes On, Even Without an Audience (Passive 1) – Ascension 1
    • Decreases the number of enemies Sweeping Fervor must hit to trigger each level of shielding.
      • Shield Level 2: Lead-In requirement reduced to one enemy hit.
      • Shield Level 3: Rave requirement reduced to two enemies hit or more.
  • Now that’s Rock ‘N Roll (Passive 2) – Ascension 4
    • Characters shielded by Sweeping Fervor deal 15% increased Physical DMG.
  • A Rad Recipe (Passive 3) – Unlocked
    • When a Perfect Cooking is achieved on an DEF-boosting dish, Xinyan has a 12% chance to obtain double the product.

Weapon Options

While few probably have The Unforged, a new weapon with the 1.1 patch, it’s an ideal weapon for Xinyan. Not only does it increase the strength of her shield, but it increases her attack by a significant amount which then doubles while her shield is active! Depending on what you have, we recommend Prototype Animus for additional damage, regardless of her abilities.

The Unforged (5-Star): Increases Shield Strength by 20/25/30/35/40%, scoring hits on opponents increases ATK by 4/5/6/7/8% for 8 seconds. Max five stacks. Can only occur once every 0.3 seconds. While protected by a shield this ATK increase effect is increased by 100%

Prototype Animus (4-Star) – On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks have a 50% chance to deal an additional 240/300/360/420/480% ATK DMG to enemies within a small radius. Can only occur once every 15s.

Debate Club (Budget) – After using an Elemental Skill, Normal or Charged Attacks, on hit, deal an additional 60/75/90/105/120% ATK DMG in a small area. Effect lasts 15s. DMG can only occur once every 3s.

Wolf’s Gravestone (5-Star): Not only does this claymore add a 20 percent attack damage bonus to Xinyan alone, if an enemy is under 30 percent health, all party members will get a 40 percent attack damage bonus.

Bloodstained Greatsword (Budget): This is an excellent budget choice for Xinyan’s pyro moves, as it does extra damage to enemies who are affected by pyro moves. Each one will take up to 24 percent more pyro damage when Xinyan is using this claymore.

As far as artifacts go, we’re looking at your typical DPS stuff like Gladiator’s Finale and Martial Artist. If you don’t have either of these, go with the best DEF (since her shield scales off this) or ATK related stuff you have.

Gladiator’s Finale (5-Star) – (2) ATK +18%. (4) If the wielder of this artifact set uses a sword, claymore, or polearm, increases their normal attack damage by 35 percent.

Martial Artist (4-Star) – (2) Increases normal attack and charged attack DMG by 15%. (4) After using elemental skill, increases normal attack and charged attack DMG by 25% for eight seconds.

As with most characters in Genshin Impact, Xinyan can work with just about any team that follows the usual composition of main DPS, secondary DPS, healer, and support.

  • Top Tier Team
    • Main DPS: Childe/Tartaglia
    • Secondary DPS: Xinyan
    • Healer: Qiqi
    • Support: Venti
  • Budget Team
    • Main DPS: Ningguang
    • Secondary DPS: Xinyan
    • Healer: Barbara
    • Support: Jean

Talent Materials

  • Talent Level-Up Material: Teachings/Guide/Philosophies of Gold
  • Common Ascension Material: Treasure Hoarder/Silver Raven/Golden Raven Insignia
  • Weekly Material: Tusk of Monoceros Caeli

We’re putting the constellation information here at the bottom because it’s incredibly difficult to rank these up in any meaningful way outside of sheer luck.

Xinyan’s constellations are super good if you’re building her as a secondary DPS or utility character. Each of these upgrades helps her and her teammates deal even more damage.

  • Level 1 – Fatal Acceleration: Upon scoring a Crit hit, increases ATK SPD of Xinyan’s Normal and Charged Attacks by 12% for five seconds. Can only occur once every five seconds.
  • Level 2 – Impromptu Opening: Riff Revolution Physical DMG has its Crit rate increased by 100%, and will form a shield at Shield Level 3: Rave when cast.
  • Level 3 – Double Stop: Increases the Level of Sweeping Fervor by three. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
  • Level 4 – Wildfire Rhythm: Sweeping Fervor’s swing DMG decrease opponents Physical RES by 15% for 12 seconds.
  • Level 5 – Screaming for Encore: Increases the Level of Riff Revolution by three. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
  • Level 6 – Rocking in Flaming: Decrease the stamina consumption of Xinyan Charged Attacks by 30%. Additionally, Xinyan Charged Attack gain an ATK bonus equal to 50% of her DEF.
