Genshin Impact Ningguang Hangout Guide – How to Get All Endings

Learn a thing or two about Mora and the Liyue business life.

Ningguang’s Hangout Event, The Jade Chamber’s Returning Guest, has been added to Genshin Impact in Version 2.4. As soon as you meet the requirements, you’re free to meet up with Ningguang and spend the day acquiring Mora (or fish). Of course, doing the Hangout also comes with rewards like Primogems and level-up materials. Whether you want to reach every ending or just the happy ones, here’s an overview of all the steps to take.

Ningguang Hangout Requirements

Besides the two Story Keys to unlock the Hangout Event, you also need to have an Adventure Rank of at least 28 before you can start. On top of that, you need to have completed The Crane Returns on the Wind, a new Archon Quest added in Genshin Impact Version 2.4.

This Archon Quest is unlocked automatically after completing Chapter I Act III: A New Star Approaches, meaning that you just need to do the part of the main story that takes place in Liyue. No need to go to Inazuma first.

How to Get All Ningguang Hangout Endings

There are five potential outcomes to Ningguang’s Hangout Event. All of the important steps for each individual ending are described below. We’ll stick to the main tasks and important dialogue options though, so if a dialogue option isn’t mentioned, it does not affect the outcome.

This Hangout event starts in the Jade Chamber, the fancy floating mansion just south of Liyue Harbor. No worries though; a Teleport location will appear on your map as soon as you’ve completed The Crane Returns on the Wind, so you’ll be able to fast travel there directly.

Go inside the building and speak to Ningguang to start this Hangout.

Ningguang Hangout Ending 1 “While the View Remains Good” – Good

  1. Talk to the NPC inside the Jade Chamber. After Ningguang leaves and you’re tasked with making the schedule, choose “Time to make a serious effort.”
  2. Wait until the following day (set the in-game clock to 07:00-08:00).
  3. Do the following tasks: wake up Ningguang, have breakfast, bring her a new outfit.
  4. When Ningguang expresses her concern about the auction, say: “Don’t worry about them.”
  5. Just do all the tasks as required: pick up the item from the jewelry store, speak to the children, speak to the businessmen, then return to the children again.

Ningguang Hangout Ending 2 “The Weight of a Collection” – Neutral

  1. Talk to the NPC inside the Jade Chamber. After Ningguang leaves and you’re tasked with making the schedule, choose “Time to make a serious effort.”
  2. Wait until the following day (set the in-game clock to 07:00-08:00).
  3. Do the following tasks: wake up Ningguang, have breakfast, bring her a new outfit
  4. When Ningguang expresses her concern about the auction, say: “We have time to go and check up on them.”
  5. After going to the auction, inspect the three items: the vase, hairpin, and writing tools (all on the same table).
  6. Wait for the auction to start by setting the in-game timer to 16:00-18:00 on the same day. A side note: you can join the bidding without actually having to spend Mora.
  7. Talk to the NPC’s as required.

Ningguang Hangout Ending 3 “Unchanging Will” – Neutral

  1. Talk to the NPC inside the Jade Chamber. After Ningguang leaves and you’re tasked with making the schedule, choose “Time to avoid anything too complicated.”
  2. Wait until the following day (set the in-game clock to 07:00-08:00).
  3. When Ningguang asks for suggestions on how to spend the day, say “Let’s do something you never normally have time for.”
  4. Visit the shop keepers in Liyue Harbor.
  5. Return to the Jade Chamber and speak to Ningguang.

Ningguang Hangout Ending 4 “Fortunes Shared” – Good

  1. Talk to the NPC inside the Jade Chamber. After Ningguang leaves and you’re tasked with making the schedule, choose “Time to avoid anything too complicated.”
  2. Wait until the following day (set the in-game clock to 07:00-08:00).
  3. When Ningguang asks for suggestions on how to spend the day, say “Let’s do something you never normally have the opportunity to do.” Beware that this dialogue option sounds quite similar to the one in the previous ending.
  4. When Ningguang explains her plan, suggest that you start at the bottom of the ladder.
  5. Speak to the merchants in Liyue Harbor, then fast travel to Guili Plains. You’ll have to go on a treasure hunt (the yellow area on your map). Here’s what you must do:
    1. Go to the first location, where you’ll see a bunch of Slimes. Defeat them and open the treasure chest. You can use Ningguang as a trial character during combat.
    2. Go to the next treasure hunt location and defeat the Hilichurls.
    3. Catch the Weasel Thief. Start by investigating the holes he left behind along the path. When he jumps up, keep following him and check the hole as soon as he disappears.
  6. The final task is to catch three fishes by hand. However, if you catch more than that, you’ll unlock a hidden achievement.

  4. When Ningguang explains her plan, suggest that you start by finding work at the Northland Bank.
  5. Go to the Northland Bank in Liyue Harbor (it’s upstairs).
  6. Follow Ningguang as she walks around.
  7. Talk to the suspicious person, then return to Northland Bank.

What Are Hangout Events?

MiHoYo describes Hangout Events as “choice-driven Story Quests.” Put simply, these are like visual novels or a Choose Your Own Adventure style system.

Each Hangout Event requires two story keys to unlock. Once you do so, however, you can replay the Hangout as many times as you’d like, searching for different endings.

During the Hangout, you’ll need to make choices between different dialogue options as the event progresses. Each character has a Heartbeat Value that you need to keep track of. Let the five hearts drop to zero, and your Hangout may end in failure.

All of the possible story points you can experience is tracked in a quest progression map so you can see where your decisions have changed things. You can even select specific nodes and jump to that point in the story. There’s no reason you have to start the entire Hangout over again each time. The game also provides a brief explanation of that point so you can jog your memory.

Is This a Romance System?

Not in the traditional sense, no. These are “dates,” however, and they can go well or they can go poorly.

Does the Traveler’s Gender Matter?

It does not! Some players were worried that MiHoYo might change or lock certain Hangout Events based on which Traveler you selected at the start, but this has thankfully been debunked. The stories will play out the exact same way regardless of which Traveler you’re playing as.

How Do I Get Story Keys?

After reaching Adventure Rank 26, you’ll gain access to story keys. At that point you’ll earn one story key for every eight daily commissions you complete. That means you can, at most, earn one key every two days. Just make sure to claim them from your commissions tab and keep in mind that you can only hold three keys at once.

These items allow you to unlock one story quest assuming you meet the appropriate Adventure Rank requirements. As we mentioned before, these story quests are exclusive to 5-Star characters. Hangout Events are a new way to use story keys, though they’ll require two keys to unlock.
