Genshin Impact Fluorescent Fungus Guide – Material Locations & Uses

A fun time farming fungus.

Thoma isn’t even out yet, but you’d be forgiven for wanting to get a head start on farming for his local specialty. Genshin Impact 2.2 added the all-new Tsurumi Island, the final addition to Inazuma. On it, you’ll find a whole lot of Fluorescent Fungus which is used in Thoma’s ascension, making it absolutely crucial for anyone who wants to use him in their party. Here’s where to find Fluorescent Fungus, how to harvest it, and what items it’s currently used for.

As a note, technically we don’t know that this will be Thoma’s ascension material, but there’s a very high chance it is.

Where to Find Fluorescent Fungus

If you are looking to farm Fluorescent Fungus you’ll have to leave the shores of the mainland. As it stands, the only place to find these plants are on the islands of Inazuma. One island in particular, is home to every node for the materials: Tsurumi Island.

The easiest gathering location is on the shores of Oina Beach on the northern part of the island. You can also walk the path up past the Moshiri Ceremonial Site for another grouping along the road.

There are 62 Fluorescent Fungus between those two locations. Clearing the entire island will net you an additional nine for a total of 71 per refresh. How quickly you accrue the resource ultimately depends on how much time you’re willing to spend getting the harder to reach nodes.

As of right now, no shops sell the fungus. That’s particularly unusual considering just about every other local specialty has at least one person selling a bundle of five to help speed things up.

Remember, they will respawn around every two to three real-world days. Because of this, I recommend hitting both areas areas. This will maximize your farm, reducing the amount of time spent waiting for them to refresh.

Fluorescent Fungus Uses

At the time of writing this, Fluorescent Fungus is not used for anything. Though he isn’t available yet, right now many believe Thoma will required them for ascension. We have not discovered any recipes that call for the fungus as of yet.

It takes 168 of a local specialty to reach Ascension 6 for a single character, so I recommend you start farming early. Even if you don’t have Thoma (or whoever ends up using this) right now, there’s always a chance you could pick them up in a future banner. It’s also a safe bet that miHoYo will release more characters that need this material so it doesn’t hurt to gather some now.
