Genshin Impact Elegy for the End Guide – Best Characters for It

Is this the end of your weapon hunting?

The newest 5-Star weapon coming to Genshin Impact is Elegy for the End in patch 1.4. It seems as if it’ll be part of a weapon banner which is always bad news for free-to-play players. Is it worth pulling though? In this guide we’ll share the weapon effect with you, take some time to explain what it actually means, and then offer some recommendations as to which characters can effectively use it.

Elegy for the End Effect

When you equip Elegy for the End, you gain the following effect:

Increases Elemental Mastery by 60. When the elemental skills or elemental bursts of the character wielding this weapon hit opponents, that character gains a Sigil of Remembrance. This effect can only be triggered once every 0.2 seconds and can be activated if said character is not on the field. When you possess four Sigils of Remembrance, all of them are consumed and all nearby party members gain the Millennial Movement: Farewell Song effect for 12 seconds.

Millennial Movement: Farewell Song increases Elemental Mastery by 100 and increases attack by 20%. Once triggered, you will not gain Sigils of Remembrance for 20 seconds. Buffs of the same type will not stack.

What Does This Actually Mean?

In effect, Elegy for the End gives the character wielding it 60 Elemental Mastery all the time. Every 0.2 seconds you can gain a Sigil of Remembrance from an elemental skill tick or elemental burst. The character doesn’t need to be on the field for this. For example, Diona’s ultimate can provide Sigils when you use her ultimate and then switch to another character. Once you have four sigils, which takes at least 0.8 seconds, all four Sigils are consumed and you gain the Millennial Movement buff for 12 seconds.

When this buff is active all characters gain 100 Elemental Mastery and have their attack increased by 20%. There’s a 20 second cooldown on this effect.

All of this together makes Elegy for the End an excellent support bow. The idea is to throw down your damage over time ability, and eventually your DPS will get more Elemental Mastery and a really healthy attack boost.

Recommended Character Pairings

Obviously there aren’t a ton of bow characters in Genshin Impact and even fewer of them would benefit from this particular weapon effect.

If you have a support Venti, Elegy for the End is an excellent pairing. Because both of Venti’s abilities involve hitting enemies with an area of effect spell over an extended period of time, he’s a perfect fit. His elemental skill lasts between six and 15 seconds, letting you get a full activation each and every time though his ultimate can do it as well.

Diona is probably the worst of the characters that can effectively use Elegy for the End. Her elemental skill impacts are too close together to get more than one Sigil of Remembrance, though her ultimate could absolutely get the full stack off. Honestly, I’d still stick with Sacrificial Bow over this.

Fischl can more easily complete a stack of Sigil of Remembrance due to Oz’s frequent attacks. I’d say she falls somewhere between Venti and Diona. It may not be the best weapon available to her, but it is still a solid choice. I’m personally a fan of The Stringless over this, and I’d also consider Skyward Harp.
