If you ever wanted to test some Genshin Impact characters you haven’t collected yet, now is your chance! The new Genshin Impact 1.5 event, called Battlefront: Misty Dungeon, allows you to use any character on the event list. You can play as Keqing, Albedo, Mona, and many more.
On top of that, you get to practice your combat skills in special trial dungeons. By shooting, shielding, or healing your way through each challenge, you can get lots of Primogems and level-up rewards. Here’s everything you need to know about this event, plus some recommended team compositions for the first two trial dungeons.
How to participate in the Genshin Impact Battlefront: Misty Dungeon
You need an Adventure Rank of at least 20 to enter the trials in Battlefront: Misty Dungeon. There are no other requirements; every player is free to use any character provided in the trial, whether you own them or not. Do make sure to enter this Genshin Impact event on time, though. Battlefront: Misty Dungeon will remain open from May 21, 2021 until May 31, 2021.
Genshin Impact Battlefront: Misty Dungeon event rewards
Unlike most Genshin Impact events, Battlefield: Misty Dungeon doesn’t have a separate rewards page. Instead, clicking on a trial will take you to a list with trial quests. These quests are related to the trial’s specific challenge (such as “use plunging attacks to defeat 8 opponents” in the plunging trial). Every quest then has a reward which you can see directly on the right. Here’s an overview:
- 70 Primogems for a completed trial.
- Hero’s Wit (character experience material)
- Talent level-up material
- Weapon enhancement material
- Mora (in-game currency)
Trial characters in Battlefield: Misty Dungeon
Go to the main event page and click “character preview” to see all the available trial Genshin Impact characters. No less than 10 characters are featured in this Genshin Impact event, so there’s plenty of choice! Here’s a full list of Battlefront: Misty Dungeon characters, including their specialties:
- Keqing: 5-star melee Sword fighter. Electro Element. Great main or sub-DPS.
- Albedo: 5-star Geo sub-DPS. Also uses a Sword.
- Mona: 5-star Hydro, great for Elemental Reactions. Uses a Catalyst.
- Amber: 4-star Bow user with the Pyro Element.
- Barbara: 4-star healer, using a Catalyst. Can also trigger Hydro Reactions.
- Beidou: 4-star Claymore DPS and Electro character. Can shield.
- Sucrose: 4-star Anemo character using a Catalyst. Good for Swirl Elemental Reactions and crowd control. This is the only Anemo character featured in Battlefront: Misty Dungeon.
- Noelle: 4-star Claymore user. Defensive Geo character, can provide a shield and healing.
- Xinyan: 4-star Claymore user, also with a shield. Useful for Pyro Reactions as well.
- Diona: 4-star Cryo using a bow. The only Cryo on the list. Most useful as a shield and healing support character.
How to play Battlefront: Misty Dungeon
Battlefront: Misty Dungeon consists of six trials. The first two are available from day one, while the rest will be released on days two and four of the event. As you can see from the names, every trial is focused on one particular part of Genshin Impact combat: plunging, healing, melee, ranged, shield, or Elemental. Your main objective is to choose the right team for each trial!
The party composition rules are also simple. You can choose any of the characters provided. However, you can’t add any from your personal collection if they’re not also on the list. All “demo” versions of characters in this event come with a Constellation level of zero. If, however, you have one of the units on the list, and your Constellation level for them is higher than zero, that personal Constellation level will count. Finally, Elemental Resonance will not work in the Battlefront: Misty Dungeon trials.
Although the combat focus and enemies are different, every Battlefield: Misty Dungeon trial follows the same pattern: activate three Ancient Runes (the shiny red things) to unlock a final big challenge. That means three smaller fights and one ultimate battle. Besides that, you may skirmish across some optional battles through the Benediction mechanics system.
Benediction mechanics and automated battle systems
If you see a shiny pillar that’s not an Ancient Rune, it’s probably a Benediction mechanic. These are optional challenges which will reward you with the following:
- Rejuvenation challenge (yellow): revives and heals all party members.
- Plunder challenge (red): increases attack power for the whole party.
- Godspeed (blue): increases movement speed.
- Everlasting challenge (turquoise): increases the remaining challenge time.
It’s recommended to only do Rejuvenation or Everlasting if you really need them. Godspeed is usually not needed as you don’t have to run that much, but the Plunder benediction is also almost always useful.
Finally, take note of the automated battle systems. They will immediately attack you. Though you can deactivate them by using Elemental attacks of your own. Here’s how you easily defeat them:
- Electro battle system: use a Cryo attack.
- Pyro battle system: use a Hydro attack.
- Hydro battle system: use an Electro attack.
- Cryo battle system: use a Pyro attack.
Battlefront: Misty Dungeon Plunging Trial team
The Plunging trial’s Leyline Disorder increases plunging attack damage by 120 percent. Furthermore, all allies’ attack power is increased by six percent for 30 seconds for each enemy hit with a plunging attack (with a maximum bonus of 60 percent). Naturally, we need some plunging experts on our team.
It’s strongly recommended to use Keqing as your main DPS here. True, Keqing’s plunging attack percentage is lower than that of the Claymore users (Noelle, Beidou, and Xinyan), but she makes up for that by being a 5-star with an absurdly high base attack power.
The enemies in the Plunging Trial are mostly Pyro and Electro. Electro 5-stars Mona (for Elemental Reactions) and Geo 5-star Albedo (high Geo damage output) are therefore excellent choices for the second and third spots on your team. It’s wise to have one support as well. Diona can shield and heal while setting up Elemental reactions with Keqing and Mona, so she’s great as teammate number four. If you have trouble with this challenge, though, consider swapping Albedo for an extra support.
Battlefront: Misty Dungeon Healing Trial team
The Leyline Disorders for the Healing trial are as follows: when the active character’s HP is higher than 90 percent, damage dealt is increased by 50 percent. Furthermore, whenever the active character regenerates health, they gain three Energy for every ally in the fight (which can trigger once every 1.5 seconds). Now we need to find the right combination of healers and DPS characters.
The characters with healing powers are Barbara, Noelle, and Diona (yes, 4-stars only). As we also need to kill our opponents before time runs out, it’s better to not use all three of them at once. Barbara can already heal with both her Elemental Skill and Burst. Meanwhile, Diona offers great freezing support. Noelle’s elemental Skill, on the other hand, takes active combat time away from DPS characters. I would therefore recommend Barbara and Diona.
As there isn’t a clear Elemental dominance among the enemies, your choice of Elemental DPS is less important! It’s therefore best to choose two of your favorite damage-dealers. Let them work together, too. I personally recommend Keqing and Mona to lead this team.
Best of luck!
