Dead by Daylight continues to be a hub for all kinds of horror-themed collaborations. From the most faithful portrayal of Silent Hill we have seen in decades to a K-Pop killer, every new chapter is always a surprise. Ahead of its release, we look into all the available details surrounding the new chapter based on the Resident Evil series and everything we know about the new killer.
What Is Dead by Daylight’s New Chapter?
In Behaviour Interactive’s frightening multiplayer game, Chapters are paid DLCs that include a new killer, a survivor, and sometimes a map as well. The current one, called All-Kill, comes with a stylish adversary called The Trickster, as well as the survivor Yun-Jin Lee. The developer shared on Twitter that there are no plans for a map at this time, even now that it has been released, but the possibility wasn’t ruled out for the future. The developers have explained that this was due to their work on a graphical overhaul as it made little sense to develop new maps when they’d just have to remake it shortly after release.
While the contents may vary on occasion, we know what to expect in terms of theme for the upcoming chapter. During the Resident Evil Showcase held back on April 15th, Capcom announced a Resident Evil collaboration with Dead by Daylight through a rather short, but moody teaser. The announcement came with an official blog post where Behaviour talks about the team’s excitement for this collaboration.
Since then, the studio has officially revealed the expansion alongside which killer and survivors will be joining the fray which you can find below.
Dead by Daylight Collab With Resident Evil Release Date
The Resident Evil Chapter release date is June 15 as detailed in the trailer and the official blog post. It comes alongside the addition of a new map: the Racoon City police department. It’s inspired by the maps from the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3.
Who Is the New Killer?
The new killer is none other than Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis. With his T-Virus power, the Nemesis can attack survivors with a ranged tentacle. This infects survivors and makes them sick so they cough and vomit, making them easier to find. It also makes them vulnerable to subsequent attacks which will actually damage them.
At the start of the match, everyone is healthy and silent. But as the new killer starts to find survivors and infect them, they’ll not only become easier to find, but Nemesis will actually grow stronger. For each person infected, the tentacle gains more range, eventually allowing him to attack over pallets and vault spots.
Survivors can remove this infection by using vaccines that are hidden around the map in limited quantities.
But that’s not where the uniqueness ends. The Nemesis also gets AI companions in the form of zombies throughout the match. Said zombies can also infect survivors on behalf of the killer.
A virus that causes extreme mutations and can be transferred to others. Its effects heighten aggression and strength within the Nemesis.
Special Attack: Tentacle Strike
Press and hold the Power button to charge an attack. Once charged, tap the Attack button to unleash Tentacle Strike. Hitting a Survivor with Tentacle Strike inflicts them with the Contaminated status effect and increases your Mutation Rate. If a Survivor is already Contaminated, Tentacle Strike damages their health.
Survivors can cure Contamination by using a Vaccine found in Supply Cases on themselves and other Survivors. The amount of Vaccines is limited. After using a Vaccine, the Survivor’s location will be revealed by Killer Instinct.
Mutation Rate: Your power expands as your Mutation Rate grows. At Mutation Rate 2, Tentacle Strike can destroy pallets and breakable walls. At Mutation Rate 3, Tentacle Strike’s range increases. the T-Virus icon displays the current level of Mutation Rate.
Special Enemy: Zombie
When a Zombie attacks a Survivor, they inflict them with the Contaminated effect. If the Survivor is already Contaminated, their health will be damaged.
Lethal Pursuer (Teachable Perk) – Level 30+
You’ve been designed to track down and eliminate targets.
At the start of the trial, the auras of all Survivors are revealed to you for five seconds.
Hysteria (Teachable Perk) – Level 35+
You know how to brutalize one member of a team to cause a panic.
Whenever you put a healthy Survivor in the injured state with a basic attack, all injured Survivors suffer from the Oblivious status effect for 20 seconds. Hysteria can only trigger once every 60 seconds.
Eruption (Teachable Perk) – Level 40+
The NE-a parasite provides you with the intelligence and awareness needed to set a trap.
After kicking a generator, its aura is highlighted in yellow. When you put a Survivor in the dying state with a basic attack, every affected generator explodes, regressing their progress by six percent and causing their auras to disappear. Any Survivor repairing a generator when it explodes will scream and suffer from the Incapacitated status effect for ten seconds. Eruption has a cooldown of 90 seconds.
What’s Special About the New Survivors?
On the survivor front, the new chapter comes with two new characters: Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine.
Jill’s unique perks “highlight her intensive training and her high adaptability in impossible situations.” Leon on the other hand focus on his “dedication to others, his resilience, and his goal-driven personality.” One of them in particular allows him to spawn a Flashbang if he meets certain conditions during the match.
Counterforce (Teachable Jill Perk) – Level 30+
You know how to withstand an enemy stronger than you, and it starts with hunting down and knocking out their support.
You cleanse totems 20 percent faster. After cleansing a totem, you see the aura of the furthest totem from you for two seconds and gain an additional 20 percent stackable speed bonus to cleansing totems for the remainder of the trial.
Resurgence (Teachable Jill Perk) – Level 35+
You’ve come back from near impossible odds… and you’ll do it again.
Gain 40 percent healing progress instantly after being unhooked or unhooking yourself.
Blast Mine (Teachable Jill Perk) – Level 40+
When direct combat isn’t an option, you still find ways to strike back.
Blast Mine activates after completing a total of 66 percent worth of repair progress on generators.
After repairing a generator for at least three seconds, press the Ability button to install a trap which stays active for 35 seconds. Affected generators will be revealed to all Survivors by a yellow aura. Only one trap can be active on a generator.
When the killer damages a trapped generator, the trap explodes, stunning them and blinding anyone nearby. Blast Mine is then deactivated.
Bite the Bullet (Teachable Leon Perk) – Level 30+
Pain hurts you as much as anyone, but you’d prefer others don’t know that.
You make no noise, including grunts of pain, when healing. There is no noise notification on failed healing skill checks and healing regresses by only three percent.
Flashbang (Teachable Leon Perk) – Level 35+
You’ve adapted to a world in chaos and making what you can from the debris.
After completing 70 percent progress on any generator, Flashbang activates.
Enter a locker while empty-handed and press the Ability button to craft a flash grenade.
- One charge.
- Detonates with a loud bang and flashing light.
- Creates a noise notification.
- Can be used to distract or blind.
You leave the flash grenade behind when escaping the trial.
Rookie Spirit (Teachable Leon Perk) – Level 40+
You keep a careful eye on objectives when they’re slipping away.
Complete five good or great Skill Checks while repairing generators to activate Rookie Spirit for the remainder of the trial. Once active, you can see the aura of regressing generators.
