PUBG Mobile SMG Tier List – The Best PUBG Mobile Shotgun For You

Take a shotty with a shotty

Looking for your personal best PUBG Mobile shotgun? The mobile battle royale’s many broomsticks all have their uses. The older models can’t hold many shots, but their stopping power in the first few minutes of a match is simply unrivaled given they’re not too difficult to find on the floor. But once people begin to armor up, their usefulness tends to drop.

In a sense, there is no single best PUBG Mobile shotgun. Knowing when to drop on in favor of another is the key to earning that chicken dinner. As the map shrinks, the reliance on shotguns increases once again, but having two shots against a fully armored enemy isn’t going to cut it. That positions a rarer shotgun like the S12K as the best PUBG Mobile shotgun in that specific situation. Read on to learn the intricate details of each, and which you’ll want to look out for at any given moment!

The Best PUBG Mobile Shotguns

The S686 can be the best PUBG Mobile shotgun early on.
S686

  • Attachment Slots: Two
  • Attachments: Muzzle, Stock
  • Ammo Type: 12 Gauge
  • Time Between Shots: 0.2s
  • Magazine Size: Two
  • Reload Time: 2.4s
  • Rarity: Common
  • Spawns On: Erangel, Sanhok, Miramar, Vikendi, Livik

The S686 is great, but it isn’t without some pretty major drawbacks. This popular hunting rifle is, in the real world, used in things like Clay Pigeon shooting. You know the drill: fire twice, reload. It has the power to get the job done with a single shot, but it leaves very little room for error in a fight. “Error” in this case includes armor.

You’ll get the S686 easily enough. It’s a common gun you can come across quickly in most matches. It’ll drop most targets that might come around the corner early on, too. But given you need to land one of those two shots or probably get beaten to a pulp, it’s not worth keeping hold of beyond the first five minutes of any match. Armor will stop it in its tracks.

The S1897 can be the best PUBG Mobile shotgun early on.

S1897

  • Attachment Slots: Two
  • Attachments: Muzzle, bullet loop
  • Ammo Type: 12 Gauge
  • Time Between Shots: 0.75s
  • Magazine Size: 9
  • Reload Time: 4s
  • Rarity: Common
  • Spawns On: Erangel, Sanhok, Miramar, Vikendi, Livik

Depending on your situation (or accuracy) the S1897 might be a better option over the S686. It holds more bullets, giving you more chances to hit your target before a reload, but firing your last round in the middle of a fight will land you in a sticky situation.

The S1897 requires individual reloads, you see. That takes time you just might not have. You can fire those shells as soon as you shove them in, which is nice and can even catch a novice target off-guard, but the pump-action nature means there’s a considerable delay between each of those shots — something the best PUBG Mobile shotguns do not suffer from. It’s good for putting people on edge as you approach, but if you’re not able to reliably land the killing blow, it won’t work.

The SK12 is probably the best PUBG Mobile shotgun.

S12K

  • Attachment Slots: Three
  • Attachments: Muzzle, Extended Mag, Sights
  • Ammo Type: 12 Gauge
  • Time Between Shots: 0.25s
  • Magazine Size: 9
  • Reload Time: 3s
  • Rarity: Common
  • Spawns On: Erangel, Sanhok, Miramar, Vikendi, Livik

Not to be confused for an assault rifle, the S12K is the game’s primary semi-automatic shotgun. That means it can rattle off rounds without needing a secondary action: like a pump. In practice, it sits somewhere between the previous two shotguns. With a five-round chamber, It holds more shells at any one time than the semi-auto S686, but far fewer than the pump-action S1897. And like the rest, its use-case truly depends on your situation and playstyle.

In using a magazine, it’s much faster to reload than other guns in its class, so don’t be afraid to lay down cover fire if you’re certain you have time to reload. Like any shotgun, its damage is through the roof if you manage to land a direct blow, but you get time to land a second or third if needed, as well. Just try to get the kill in as few as possible (obviously). Not only will the small magazine size spell your end if your accuracy isn’t up to snuff, its heavy recoil will make successive shots much harder to land.

The DBS can be the best PUBG Mobile shotgun in the right situation.

DBS

  • Attachment Slots: Three
  • Attachments: Muzzle, Extended Mag, Sights
  • Ammo Type: 12 Gauge
  • Time Between Shots: 0.25s
  • Magazine Size: 14
  • Reload Time: 5.5s
  • Rarity: Rare
  • Spawns On: Erangel, Sanhok, Miramar, Vikendi, Livik

The once airdrop-exclusive DBS can, as of the New Era update, be found just about anywhere. It’s very rare, though, so don’t expect to see it often. Yet the chance is always there. As for battle, the DBS has to be one of the best PUBG Mobile shotguns around if you ignore the low chance of actually getting it. With a massive 14-round magazine capacity, it can hold more shells than even the S1897 and fire them out at ludicrous speeds as well.

Its damage is through the roof, but where this shotgun stands above the rest is range. The DBS has been known to drop targets from the other side of a building. If you’re accurate enough with it, this is absolutely something that can go toe-to-toe with an SMG even at medium range. That isn’t something any other shotgun is really designed to do. You won’t really need this capability when the map is at its smallest, but if you find this early on, you want to keep it and kit it out. It shreds everything and everyone.

The M1014 is perhaps the best PUBG Mobile shotgun for most people.

M1014

  • Attachment Slots: Three
  • Attachments: Muzzle, Extended Mag, Sights
  • Ammo Type: 12 Gauge
  • Time Between Shots: 0.25s
  • Magazine Size: 7
  • Reload Time: 3.3s
  • Rarity: Unknown
  • Spawns On: Livik

Released back in 2020, the M1014 is perhaps the best PUBG Mobile shotgun around right now. It’s not as hard to come by as the DBS, but betters the rest of the game’s shotguns in almost every way. Its magazine size is average at seven rounds, and while it will take some time to reload, you can empty it without pumping between each individual shot.

Damage is high and it has a similar range to the DBS at around 25-30 meters. It’s considered the easiest shotgun to use, too, being one that’s relatively easy to acquire. That makes it the one you’ll most likely want to actively look for and take into the final fights of the match. The only issue? It’s exclusive to the Livik map. This tiny 50-person locale is the perfect place for close-range fights, but with the FAMAS and P90 around, you need to hug those walls to put this beast to good use.
