Apex Legends Chaos Theory Guide – How to Earn Points During the Event

Science Rules All

Apex Legends’ latest event, Chaos Theory, has officially arrived. Bringing Caustic’s Town Takeover, a host of new collectibles, buffs, nerfs, and changes to the ring, Chaos Theory will certainly shake things up. But you don’t care about any of that, all you want are those glorious free rewards. Similar to previous events, players can both purchase or unlock cosmetic items for the duration of Chaos Theory. While purchasing items will cost you a considerable amount of money, those trying to spare their wallets can earn 14 free items via the Chaos Theory event tracker. However, unlocking these skins, badges, and trackers will require you to earn points.

How to Get Chaos Theory Event Points

You can earn points during the Chaos Theory Event by completing the Daily Challenges found in the Challenge Menu. These will update every day with new tasks for you to complete and they are, mostly, pretty simple. This can include getting into the Top 10 four times, dealing damage, or just playing the game itself. Every challenge you complete will earn you 200 Points, for a total of 600 Points per day if you finish every challenge offered. However, the damage point challenge has different levels so it is possible to squeak out some extra Points early on. To earn everything you’ll need a maximum of 5,000 Points, meaning you’ll need to finish 25 of these challenges (not including the additional damage ones) to earn everything this season.

Keep in mind, you cannot earn points by getting kills, winning games, or completing battle pass challenges. The only way to earn points is by finishing the Chaos Theory Event challenges, so make sure to prioritize these every day when you log on. Unfortunately, Respawn isn’t offering any free event packs this time, so if you want some of those awesome legendary skins be prepared to fork over some cash.

The new event is called Ring Fury Escalation, which introduces a new hazard that players will need to avoid. Throughout the match (and event), smaller rings will spawn in previously safe areas. Called Ring Flares, these will damage anyone caught inside for the current damage value of the normal exterior ring. Before a Ring Flare ignites, all legends in the vicinity will be warned of this imminent threat. To help protect players, a new item called a Heat Shield will be available. When deployed, it will create a small dome (similar to Gibraltar’s) that prevents any ring damage to those inside. Players inside the dome will be temporarily safe and will receive a 50% use time for healing items and a pick up teammates 25% faster. This effect only activates if the dome is in the ring.

To help players use this item, a new slot called Survival Items has been created. Users can carry up to two Heat Shields or Mobile Respawn Beacons, freeing up their inventory space. This should help those items become more useful in general and Ranked play. Additionally, Bangalore will finally be getting an heirloom and a bunch of legends got tweaked. You can read the full patch notes here.

The Apex Legends Chaos Theory event is live on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch until March 25.
