Apex Legends Ash Guide – How to Unlock Ash in Season 11

She's back.

Apex Legends’ newest season is almost upon us, and it’s introducing a plethora of new content. Along with the biggest map in the game’s history and a new weapon, players will be able to get their hands on a fan-favorite character from Titanfall 2, Ash. A legend teased across several seasons, this Simulacrum is finally making the jump from Arenas announcer to a full-blown playable character. Highly aggressive, Ash is for those that like to track and mercilessly kill their targets. Unfortunately, she won’t be unlocked right at the start of Season 11, but if you’ve been playing Apex Legends it won’t take a lot of work to obtain her.

How to Unlock Ash

The only way to unlock Ash is by spending either 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex Coins. You can earn the Legend Tokens by leveling up your core account (not your Battle Pass), while the Apex Coins must be purchased with real-world money or by completing steps in the Battle Pass. You will need to spend at least $10 to purchase Ash since you cannot just buy the exact amount needed to unlock her.

There is no other way to gain access to her, so if you don’t want to shell out some cash, then get ready to grind some levels. How long this takes will vary based on your level, as those just starting out will have a much easier time accruing Legend Tokens than those at or above Level 100.

Ash’s Abilities

Ash is an aggressive legend that has some strong utility to help her team isolate targets or reposition during a battle. Her passive, Marked For Death, has Ash throwing a Data Knife into a Deathbox to locate the surviving members of whoever killed that person. The surviving players will appear on her map and HUD as a red ping, showing their current position. This isn’t like Bloodhound or Seer’s scans, which give you their real-time movements and outlines. All you will get are red pings, and the enemy team will be altered when you do this.

My personal favorite ability in her kit is the Arc Snare. When thrown, the Arc Snare will fly in the direction you aimed it while sparking electricity. If an enemy steps into the Arc Snare’s range, they will be shocked for 10 damage and tethered to their current position. While you can escape the snare, the target’s movement will be severely hindered. You can also throw it on any surface to create a trap; however, the Arc Snare will only exist for a few seconds before it breaks.

Finally, Phase Breach is Ash’s ultimate and her only mobility option. With her sword, Ash creates a portal to a designated location and warps towards it. Unlike Wraith’s Portal, Ash’s Phase Breach is one way, so you cannot travel between points. However, teammates and enemies can travel to the location Ash teleported to via the area she was originally standing when triggering her ultimate. You can roughly travel about 100 meters, which allows Ash to quickly escape or seize the advantage during a fight.
