Shovel Knight Dig, the Yacht Club Games/Nitrome co-developed roguelite spin-off of the original platformer, has a release date, and it’s pretty soon.
Yacht Club Games announced the next installment in the Shovel Knight series will launch on Apple Arcade, PlayStation 4, and Switch on September 23. In a post on the studio’s website, says Shovel Knight Dig will include “thousands” of procedurally generated levels, and bring some new and returning characters from the series’ past, such as Tinker Knight and Mole Knight.
The announcement reads as follows:
After 4 long years of development, we are proud to announce that our ambitious co-developed title, Shovel Knight Dig, will be coming to Nintendo Switch, Apple Arcade, and Steam on September 23rd, 2022! We put our full effort into making Shovel Knight’s newest adventure chock-full of fun gameplay and our signature humor. There are thousands of pixel-perfect level chunks, which are procedurally stitched together to create infinite adventurous combinations. Each trip down the well will bring you closer to discovering the secrets lying at the bottom. So, grab your trusty shovel blade and dig in an all-new direction- DOWN…on September 23rd!!
Alongside the announcement, Yacht Club Games released an announcement trailer that features a collaboration with YouTubers Arin Hanson and Jirard Khalil.
