Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Starters Get Their First Merch with New Plushies

Quaxly's about to be sitting on my shelf.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are still a few months away, but the Pokemon Center is starting to stock new merch for it ahead of launch. Which means we finally have official plushies for Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, the starters for the games’ Paldea region.

The first Scarlet & Violet starter merch includes plushies and also key chains of the sassy duck, furry feline, and fire-breathing doofus, which have previously been used as pre-order bonus for games on the Pokemon Center for games like Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. The standard stuffed toys will run you $15.99, and the key chains are only a dollar less at $14.99. Smaller plush, more utility, I suppose. But look at these cuties!

I had been on team Fuecoco for a bit, but after it was confirmed Houndoom would be available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and filling the fire-type role, I’m thinking Quaxly will be my starter in the upcoming games. Plus, the duck is sassy and iconic already, so I just gotta. Really, I’m still figuring out what my team is gonna look like. Between Quaxly, Houndoom, and Raichu, half my party is already accounted for. So we’ll see what new Pokemon the Paldea region has in store for us as we near the November 18 launch.

More Pokemon:

Beyond these three little guys, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is also bringing what Game Freak considers the first open-world game in the Pokemon series. Pokemon Legends: Arceus took a half step toward it by having several open areas the player can visit, but Scarlet & Violet seem to be more about a continuous world that you can explore with your friends. We’re about seven months removed from Pokemon Legends: Arceus, so I guess I should probably give up hope that a DLC is coming that could give the story some proper conclusion.
