PlayStation Plus’ June Line-Up Has Spies, Fighters, and Star Wars

You'll probably find at least one thing here to catch your interest.

While I still take issue with the way Sony is giving perks to PlayStation 5 players when the system is still near impossible to find due to shortages, I gotta say that June’s line-up of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers is pretty solid.

Anyone paying their monthly fee for PlayStation Plus will get three games, one of which will be exclusive to PlayStation 5. But altogether, it’s a pretty good line-up with something for everyone.

Operation: Tango

The PS5 exclusive this month is the cooperative spy/hacker game Operation: Tango. While the game is also coming to PlayStation 4, the Plus subscription will only allow you to freely download the PS5 version, which has been the case for the past few months since the new console launched in November. Notably, the game is coming to PlayStation Plus day-and-date with its launch on June 1. I’ve been pretty excited for this one since it was part of the PlayStation Indies Showcase back in March, so I’m ready to dive in.

Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown

Also on the list is the remaster of Virtua Fighter 5 announced yesterday, which is playable on PS4 and PS5. Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown will be available for two months on PlayStation Plus, beginning on its June 1 launch date. Which is smart for an online game that needs a strong install base to last. Ultimate Showdown will be removed from the PlayStation Plus line-up on August 2.

Star Wars: Squadrons

Rounding things off is Star Wars: Squadrons, the space combat game from EA Motive that launched last year. Fairly late last year, actually. The game has only been out around seven months as of this writing. So if you were on the fence about it, now’s your chance to try it out commitment-free. If you need some help when you boot it up, be sure to check out some of our guide coverage.

Once these games are made free for Plus subscribers, May’s selections will revert to paid status. So if you still haven’t added Battlefield V, Stranded Deep, and Wreckfest: Drive Hard. Die Last to your collection, be sure to do so.
