Outriders has had a successful but fairly tumultuous launch. While this has become the expectation for online games of its size and nature, some aspects of its launch are harder for players to reconcile than others. Take, for instance, the infamous bug that wipes your whole inventory. It’s currently happening on quite a large scale, making a fix the developer’s top priority.
There’s no shortage of things on the team’s to-do list right now, as you can tell by the post-launch update posted earlier this week. The latest patch was supposed to reduce the rate of the inventory wipe bug’s occurrence, but it unfortunately only made it more common.
The team intends to run a one-off mass restoration for everyone affected by this. It is a one-time event that will take place on a specific date. That day is still to be determined, but the team is working hard to fix it and get a confirmation of the time as soon as possible. It’s important to note that only the most valuable tiers of items lost (Epics and Legendaries) will be restored during this event. It will be “unlikely to restore an inventory full of blue gear.” However, it will be additive, so it won’t replace your current inventory. For more details, be sure to check the post focusing on the inventory wipe bug and restoration.
“We want to reassure you that resolving the inventory wipe is our top priority and will remain so until fixed,” said Square Enix on the evening of April 10. “We started looking into this issue immediately yesterday and have continued to do so today … The moment we make a breakthrough we will immediately update you all.”
It is recommended that you avoid starting a multiplayer session from the Expeditions Outrider camp, for the team has found many of the reports to be related to this. If you’ve experienced the unfortunate bug and aren’t completely turned off from still playing Outriders, be sure to comment in the new thread with as much information to help the team.

While fixing these issues will certainly take time and effort, I want to again highlight how the Outriders team is doing a tremendous job of communicating with the player base in a helpful and transparent manner. They can’t fix these bugs but they’re the ones reporting them to the ones who can — and are the ones on the front lines responding to both justified and unjustified anger. Bless good community and social media managers.
