Never one to shy away from an out-of-left-field crossover nonsense, Mortal Kombat 11 is getting three new fighters, and one of them is Sylvester Stallone himself as Rambo.
Today, NetherRealm made a couple of announcements surrounding Mortal Kombat 11, including the next set of fighters coming as part of the Kombat Pack 2. Along with the aforementioned crossover nonsense, Mileena, a long-requested but long-denied staple of the series, will be making her debut in Mortal Kombat 11 as part of the next wave of DLC characters. You’ve got to feel for Rain, the third character being added as part of the Kombat Pack 2, as no one really seems to care that he’s even here because everyone wants Mileena, and Rambo is getting all the attention from people who don’t actually play the game and aren’t upset when a crossover fighter takes the spot of a potential returning favorite a new, original character to add to the series. Will NetherRealm still be doing this when a hypothetical Injustice 3 comes out? Yeah, probably. Crossover characters have become a staple of NetherRealm’s games, with Mortal Kombat 11 already having its fair share before Rambo even got here. Back in May the studio announced RoboCop would be coming to the game, which was after the Terminator, the Joker, and Spawn had already taken up half of the game’s first wave of DLC characters.
Am I just still peeved about Injustice 2 getting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles while John Constantine was benched? Perhaps. Do I need to let it go? Maybe. Will I? Nope.

In less divisive news, Mortal Kombat 11 is coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It will be as Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate Edition, an all-in-one package that will launch on November 17, and contains the full game, both Kombat Packs, and the Aftermath expansion which includes new story content. The same edition will be available on PS4 and Xbox One, as well, but won’t be required to freely upgrade to the next-gen version if you own the game on old consoles. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will come with some visual enhancements, 4k dynamic resolution, shorter load times, and cross-play across all systems.
