Before we get into the specifics of what Ubisoft talked about during its Ubisoft Forward presentation today, I would like to direct all our readers to the four-minute long video the publisher released several hours ago in case they have not seen it. It is of Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, where he addresses recent controversies surrounding the company, specifically allegations of harassment and misconduct by high ranking employees, and the use of Black Lives Matter-associated imagery in a very fascist cinematic for Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad. Ubisoft claims this video wasn’t added to the actual Ubisoft Forward presentation due to “time constraints,” despite producing and hosting the show by itself and having the authority to make that call. Rather than follow Ubisoft’s example, I’d like to take a moment to ensure that anyone who is reading Fanbyte for a recap of all of Ubisoft’s announcements today get it in one place.
With all that said, here’s our recap of Ubisoft’s second Ubisoft Forward presentation.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising
First up was Immortals: Fenyx Rising, which was previously known as Gods & Monsters. The Greek-mythology-based action game has received a pretty hefty update since it was unveiled under a different name last year, and Ubisoft broke them down with a presentation showing off character customization and how you’ll use the Greek gods’ abilities to fight and traverse its open world. The game will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia on December 3. Stadia users will also get access to an exclusive demo.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake
After leaking earlier today, Ubisoft has officially unveiled a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the 2003 action game that was widely beloved when it originally launched. This marks the first time the series has gotten a real release on consoles since 2010’s Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. It will come out on January 21 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Hyper Scape
Ubisoft’s battle royale is getting new content, including a limited time mode called Turbo Mode that includes Max Level loot, faster health regen, and a faster closing perimeter. It will go live on September 15.
Rainbow Six Siege
Splinter Cell protagonist Sam Fisher is coming to Rainbow Six Siege and not his own game as a playable character, and was revealed with an animated short. He is available to play as right now, having launched alongside the game’s latest season today.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Ubisoft announced that the beat ’em up based on the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is coming this holiday to PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One and Switch as Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: Complete Edition, ending the game’s six years of being delisted from digital platforms due to a licensing issue. The Complete Edition will include Knives Chau and Wallace Wells as playable characters when it launches this holiday season.
Watch Dogs: Legion
There was a new trailer for Watch Dogs: Legion highlighting all the different citizens you can recruit and how they have different abilities that will help you on different missions, or perhaps hinder you, depending on the situation. Also, original Watch Dogs protagonist Aiden Pearce is making an appearance as a DLC character in his own mini campaign that will be included in the game’s season pass.
Riders Republic
Ending the show was new IP Riders Republic, a multiplayer driven extreme sports racing game that is basically battle royale but bikes.
Notably, games like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Far Cry 6 were nowhere to be seen, but Ubisoft promised another Ubisoft Forward presentation in the future where those games and others might make an appearance.
