Grand Theft Auto V Coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in November

Off to sell another several million copies.

Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto V will come to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on November 11, adding to the game’s long list of platforms to sell an unfathomable number of copies on again.

Weirdly enough, the release date announcement was slightly buried in a larger announcement regarding Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online. Both multiplayer games will be getting significant updates over the summer. Grand Theft Auto Online will be getting eight new Stunt Races on May 27, along with seven new arenas added to the Deadline mode and new locations for the game’s Survival mode. Red Dead Online will also be getting new content in the form of eight new Races, both Standard Races and Open Races, as well as Target and Open Target Races, which have checkpoints marked by targets you’ll have to shoot with a bow on horseback. All of these will be added on May 25.

In other news:

Rockstar didn’t go into specifics, but Grand Theft Auto Online’s summer update will have some kind of perk for people who buy Grand Theft Auto V on new consoles. The announcement says the content drop will contain “special benefits for players to take advantage of in these expanded and enhanced versions when they drop.” So maybe there’s some kind of bonus here only redeemable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S? It’s not really clear, but we’ll likely know more when these updates go live.

Also buried in the announcement is a tease that something related to Grand Theft Auto III will come to Grand Theft Auto Online in celebration of the game’s 20th anniversary. But that’s only one part of how Rockstar is planning on honoring the game’s launch on PlayStation 2 in 2001. What else does that entail? No idea. But let’s temper expectations before anyone’s imagination gets running wild and thinking it could be a remaster or something along those lines. Yeah?
