Forza Horizon 5 is Getting Hot Wheels DLC and It Looks Just As Wild As it Sounds

A very promising and familiar look at what we can expect from the game’s future for DLC.

Forza Horizon 5 is finally getting some sweet sweet DLC, and it’s coming in the form of wacky Hot Wheels tracks, baby. Showed off during Xbox & Bethesda’s showcase earlier today, it looks like more of what we’ve seen in Forza Horizon 4’s DLC and trust me, that’s a great thing. The trailer shows off all of the different ways those vibrant orange tracks will loop and twist through Playground’s incredible vision of Mexico and it looks fantastic.

In addition to wild track design, we got a look at the absurd Hot Wheels cars we can expect to see in the game too. Forza Horizon 5’s map was already such a blast to speed through — in everything from supercars to SUVs — so getting to see those orange tracks take over the world way above the already-enormous mountains and variety of biomes is arcade racer heaven. All of those beautiful vistas and natural monuments can be explored now with cars: even racing over the bubbling lava inside of volcanos you could only drive around previously.

The absurdity of seeing all of these high performance cars upside down and flying through the air fits so neatly into the gorgeous mosaic that is Forza Horizon 5. It also goes to show how beautifully flexible this game is: becoming an entirely new experience once a part of the recipe is tweaked. Everything I saw in that brief, but jam-packed, trailer gives me a lot of confidence in the game’s future. That’s especially true once you consider how delicious all of Forza Horizon 4’s DLC was.

Will it be enough to keep me coming back for more? Well, since it’s on Xbox Game Pass, it’s a much easier sell for me.

Forza Horizon 5’s Hot Wheels DLC is right around the bend, coming to Xbox consoles, PC, and the cloud on July 19.
