Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Finally Has a Mobile Release Date

With that, all three of the series' visual novels are on phones and tablets.

While it might have missed the series’ 10th anniversary, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is finally coming to mobile devices next week.

The latest (and should’ve been final, but that’s up in the air at this point) entry in the murder mystery visual novel series will come to iOS and Android devices on May 26. Like both Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair before it, Danganronpa V3 will include updates to UI to accommodate touch controls, as this will be the first time the game has been on a platform that doesn’t reliably have button inputs.

To the untrained eye, it may look like the Danganronpa series is about to be entirely available on mobile devices, but that’s because the series’ marketing has been so fragmented in the west that fans who have begun the series on mobile devices might not be aware there’s actually more to the story the series is telling. Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is technically the next visual novel in the franchise, but anyone who is jumping straight from Danganronpa 2 to it are likely to be lost by the game’s ending, which isn’t part of the first two game’s continuity.

In other news:

Any Danganronpa fan who is playing these games on their phone or tablet would actually need to play puzzle shooter spin-off Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls and then watch the anime Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School before playing Danganronpa V3 to get the whole story. However, Ultra Despair Girls is only available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita, and Danganronpa 3 is hosted on anime streaming service Funimation. So the whole thing is kind of fractured, and the companies involved have never gone out of their way to make the whole thing cohesive for western fans.
