Sid Meier’s Civilization VI has a new season pass four years after the game originally launched in 2016, and will be getting six new content updates between now and March of next year.
2K says its plan is to release new DLC for the game every two months, starting on May 21. The “New Frontier Pass” will run you $39.99, and will be available on all platforms the game is available on, including PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and Linux, but the mobile version will have to wait until later this year. Whether that means the content itself is going to extend beyond March 2021 or not is unclear at this point.
The first new expansion that will be available on May 21 will be the Maya & Gran Colombia Pack, which will bring new leaders and civilizations to choose from in the strategy game, as well as a new Apocalypse mode and new City-States, Resources and Natural Wonders.

While each piece of content included in the New Frontier Pass will be available separately, buying all of them through the season pass also brings some additional in-game perks as well, like the Teddy Roosevelt and Catherine De Medici Persona Packs, which will be made available to anyone who purchases the pass alongside the second pack when it launches in July.
Civilization VI has been out for awhile now, but the game has launched on multiple systems across those four years, so it makes sense that it would still be receiving significant support this far out. The initial game came to PC and Mac in 2016, followed by the Linux version in 2017. iOS followed at the end of that year, with consoles finally coming in 2018 with the Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports were the last to hit store shelves and digital storefronts, having both launched at the end of last year.
While we don’t know everything that’s going to come in each of these new DLC packs, we do have a general sense of how Civilization VI’s DLC tends to pan out based on past experience, and in cases like Gathering Storm, which launched last year, it’s been pretty good.
