The next horrifying installment of the Resident Evil series has finally arrived. Continuing the story of Ethan Winters following the events of Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village sees our titular hero venture into a mysterious eastern European town to save his kidnapped baby. Throughout your journey, Ethan will encounter all sorts of horrific monsters, eccentric characters, puzzles, and familiar faces. Pulling inspiration from previous entries, Resident Evil Village mixes both horror and action. Returning to the series is the attache case, which acts as RE8’s inventory storage system. Not only does this case display Ethan’s health, but it’s where you will put all of his guns, ammo, and supplies. Here’s how to increase your inventory size so you can carry more weapons and items throughout the game’s campaign.
How to Increase Your Inventory
Increasing your inventory is exclusively tied to purchasing upgrades sold by The Duke. Encountered fairly early on once the prologue is over, The Duke sells various upgrades for your gear including Ethan’s briefcase. However, this will cost Lei, which is the in-game currency. These gold coins are typically found on the corpses of dead enemies, but you will also find some Lei tucked away in houses, corners, and other hidden areas. Once you have enough Lei, visit The Duke and select the Gunsmithy option to bring up their upgrade menu. Now select the briefcase icon and purchase it if you have enough Lei.
Keep in mind, upgrading your inventory isn’t cheap and will typically cost several thousand (sometimes tens of thousands) Lei. Because of the steep price, you will definitely want to hunt down the valuable artifacts and treasure scattered throughout Resident Evil Village. These can often be sold for quite a lot of money, which will make up a good chunk of the inventory expansion price. All inventory upgrades are permanent, so don’t worry about losing them if you die.
As for your inventory, you can actually rotate and reorganize everything in the case. This is done by highlighting the item and then pressing either the Right or Left Trigger to spin the item. You can then move that item with the control stick and place it anywhere in the grid pattern. I strongly recommend organizing your inventory so you can quickly access anything you might need. This will also help you save space in the case, giving you more room when picking up additional ammo, herbs, or crafting supplies. Keep in mind that some weapons like the shotgun and sniper take up a lot of room, so make sure to consider their size when picking them up.
Additionally, you can access the crafting menu through Ethan’s inventory by tapping the right bumper. This will let you can make various healing items and ammo if you purchase the recipes.
