The next horrifying installment of the Resident Evil series has finally arrived. Continuing the story of Ethan Winters following the events of Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village sees our titular hero venture into a mysterious eastern European town to save his kidnapped baby. Throughout your journey, Ethan will encounter all sorts of horrific monsters, eccentric characters, puzzles, and familiar faces. One of the characters teased from the start was Heisenberg. One of the four lords and primary antagonists, Heisenberg has the ability to manipulate metal and is the last major foe you’ll face before the game’s last act. Similar to Moreau and Lady Dumitrescu, Heisenberg is a boss broken up across two phases and is definitely the zaniest fight in the entire game.
How to Beat Heisenberg
Look, it’s a Resident Evil game. We’ve done weirder things than fight a giant metal/human monster with a makeshift tank. For this portion of the fight, you will want to keep your distance from Heisenberg as much as possible. Most of his most damaging moves are tied to the saw blade arm, so always be ready to press L1 (PlayStation) / LB (Xbox) to guard the attack. For the most part, you should be keeping to the edge of the area, shooting at any of the glowing orange weak points along his arms, sides of his body, and head.
Doing enough damage to one of these will trigger an explosion, stunning the boss and allowing you a clear shot with your cannon. Occasionally, Heisenberg will cover himself in massive steel plates that block your bullets. If this happens, fire a cannon round into the plates to stun him and wreck his cover. If you don’t have a cannon round loaded, he will eventually launch them out all over the arena, creating new obstacles you have to avoid. Eventually, Heisenberg will lift you off the ground and hold you facing him. Apparently, he didn’t think to not point the cannon barrel at himself, so fire it off to break his grasp.
After you deal enough damage to Heisenberg he will throw you from the tank. For the next phase, you’ll have to fight him on foot, which can be a little intimidating given his sheer size. Similar to when you were on Chris’ raggedy tank, you’ll want to keep your distance when fighting this boss. Do not battle Heisenberg up close with a shotgun unless you are extremely confident in your ability to dodge his attacks. You’ll want to use the sniper rifle or magnum for this fight, as they deal high damage and are quite accurate. Whenever Heisenbergstarts charging at Ethan, fire at his head as much as possible. If you do enough damage he will get knocked out of his attack and become stunned for a short duration.
When this happens, either switch to the grenade launcher or just keep shooting Heisenberg until he attempts to dash at Ethan again. He has no ranged attacks, so as long as you can actually stun him he will never land a hit on you. For those that need ammo, there are some bullets scattered around the debris still lying around from the tank fight. Once you hurt him enough, you will be pulled into a cutscene where Heisenberg drags Ethan into the air and is, eventually, killed.
