Kitana Guide: Mortal Kombat 11 Character Strengths, Weaknesses, Tips

Mortal Kombat 11 features a lot of returning, fan favorite characters from throughout the series. But that doesn’t mean they all play the same as they once did. Kitana in Mortal Kombat 11, for instance, has seen some very interesting changes to her look and animations. She’s conceptually very similar to past incarnations, but there’s still a lot to chew on when it comes to her newest moves. So let’s take a look at this Mortal Kombat 11 guide to Kitana for all the tips you need!

Kitana Strengths & Weaknesses – Mortal Kombat 11

Every character in Mortal Kombat 11 sports multiple loadouts. With a mixture of loot, augments, skins, and more, you can tailor the look and feel of your fighter however you like. And there are some truly nasty combinations — though the game limits how many abilities you can bring into battle. Some characters are more flexible than others, too, but every fighter generally has a basic set of strengths and weaknesses. So let’s take a look at basic pros and cons of playing Kitana in Mortal Kombat 11.

Kitana has a great many options at her disposal in Mortal Kombat 11. Her fans make deadly projectiles, and even give her normal attacks strong zoning potential. That means she can keep foes at a distance and still come out on top by chipping at them over time. Her true potential, however, shines through when Kitana gets in close. She has extremely long combo strings — similar to the dial-a-combo system from past Mortal Kombat games — that are sure to frustrate foes caught in her path. At range or up close, Kitana is a force to be reckoned with.

Most of this character’s damage comes from hefty combo strings. So Kitana players must seriously commit to every attack to perform maximum damage. That makes it very easy to misjudge and overcommit, opening you up to serious counterattacks. Not to mention these long combo strings require some serious dexterity and rote memorization. If you’re not up to button in endless attack strings, Kitana may not be the Mortal Kombat 11 fighter for you.

Mortal Kombat 11 Kitana Tips

Kitana Tips – Mortal Kombat 11

  • Edenian Razors (the spinning fan dance attack) is a great anti-air attack. It’s got short range, but knocking foes out of the air with this special will open them up to combos for zero stamina. That’s rare in Mortal Kombat 11.
  • Edenian Razors can also pop up opponents, opening them up to a combo, from the ground. You just have to use it near a wall.
  • Kitana’s Fatal Blow is relatively slow, but makes up for this with intense range.
  • Even some of Kitana’s normal fan attacks are helpful anti-air moves, due to the arc of the weapons and how she attacks. Opponents generally need to fight Kitana on the ground, so it’s extremely easy to punish anyone that tries for an airborne attack.
  • Kitana is a character that while, yes, has both punches and kicks. But you mostly want to use your punch moves for maximum damage. Obviously her kicks are helpful, too, especially at close-range, but if you’re trying to zone a character out keep your fingers on the Light and Heavy Punch buttons!
