Genshin Impact Sucrose April 2022 Guide: Build, Team, Talent Priority

I was going to make a sugar joke but her name is literally sugar.

It’s a party for Anemo fans in Genshin Impact right now. Not only is Venti back after an entire calendar year away, but he’s joined by Sucrose as one of the 4-Star characters on both his own and Kamisato Ayato’s banner. It’s also been a while since we’ve seen Sucrose as well, so now is as good of a time as any to add her to your collection of characters. If you have no experience with her, we’ve put together this Sucrose build guide complete with team recommendations, talent priority, local material info, and more!

More Genshin Impact:

Sucrose Abilities

Sucrose is a very straightforward character, built to combo with other AoE abilities. She’s basically a budget Venti. With her basic ability you can pull enemies close before launching them back. This can also be combined with her ultimate which creates a very large AoE which draws enemy towards the center before launching them.

As a whole, her passives just help increase her parties elemental masteries, making her a really good support.

For skill priority, level up her Astable Anemohypostasis Creation over Forbidden Creation. Her basic attacks aren’t important.

Wind Spirit Creation (Basic Attack)

  • Normal Attack: Performs up to four attacks using Wind Spirits, dealing Anemo DMG.
  • Charged Attack: Consumes a certain amount of Stamina and deals AoE Anemo DMG after a short casting time.
  • Plunging Attack: Calling upon the power of her Wind Spirits, Sucrose plunges towards the ground from mid-air, damaging all enemies in her path. Deals AOE Anemo DMG upon impact with the ground.

Astable Anemohypostasis Creation (Elemental Skill)

Creates a small Wind Spirit that deals Anemo DMG to enemies in an AoE, pulling them towards the location of the Wind Spirit before launching them.

Forbidden Creation (Elemental Burst)

Sucrose hurls an unstable concoction that creates a Large Wind Spirit. While it persists, the Large Wind Spirit will continuously pull and launch nearby enemies, dealing AOE Anemo DMG.

  • Elemental Absorption: If the Wind Spirit comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro elements, it will deal additional elemental DMG of that type. Elemental Absorption may only occur once per use.

Catalyst Conversion (Passive 1) – Ascension 1

When Sucrose triggers a Swirl effect, all characters in the party with the matching element (excluding Sucrose) have their Elemental Mastery increased by 50 for eight seconds.

Mollis Favonius (Passive 2) – Ascension 4

When Astable Anemohypostasis Creation or Forbidden Creation hit an enemy, increases all party members’ (excluding Sucrose) Elemental Mastery based on 20 percent of Sucrose’s Elemental Mastery for eight seconds.

Astable Invention (Passive 3) – Unlocked

When Sucrose crafts Character and Weapon Enhancement Materials, she has a ten percent chance to obtain double the product.

Best Sucrose Build

Sucrose is primarily built as a support, useful for enabling elemental combos and crowd control.

Best Sucrose Weapons

Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers remains the best overall choice for Sucrose, years after Genshin Impact’s release. While it may not be the most powerful weapon for her specifically, it will provide your team with the biggest overall benefit.

Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers (3-Star) – When switching characters, the new character taking the field has their ATK increased by 23/30/36/42/48 percent for ten seconds. This effect can only occur once every 20 seconds.

Sacrificial Fragments (4-Star) – After damaging an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has a 40/50/60/70/80 chance to end its own cooldown. Can only occur once every 30/26/22s/19/16 seconds.

Best Sucrose Artifacts

Since we think Sucrose is best built as a support, Instructor is a good choice, particularly for newer players. If you have the better artifacts in the game, Viridescent Venerer is great in that you get a burst of Anemo Swirl damage and then can swap back to the appropriate DPS to keep wearing foes down.

Prioritize Elemental Mastery, ATK%, and Crit Rate/DMG.

Instructor (Elemental Mastery Buff) – (2) Increases Elemental Mastery by 80. (4) After using an Elemental Skill, increases all party members’ Elemental Mastery by 120 for eight seconds.

Viridescent Venerer (5-Star Anemo Buff) – (2) Anemo DMG bonus +15 percent. (4) Increases Swirl DMG by 60 percent. Decreases opponent’s elemental resistance to the element infused in the Swirl by 40 percent for ten seconds.

Best Sucrose Teams

As we mentioned, Sucrose is a support which means she can fit in just about any team. The only thing you’ll want to be careful of is having too much Anemo on one team.

Top Tier Team

  • Main DPS: Kamisato Ayaka
  • Secondary DPS: Mona
  • Healer: Diona
  • Support: Sucrose

Budget Team

  • Main DPS: Beidou
  • Secondary DPS: Mona
  • Sub-DPS: Xingqiu
  • Support: Sucrose

Talent Materials

  • Talent Level-Up Material: Teachings/Guide/Philosophies of Freedom
  • Common Ascension Material: Whopperflower/Shimmering/Energy Nectar

We’re putting the constellation information here at the bottom because it’s incredibly difficult to rank these up in any meaningful way outside of sheer luck.

Like with many other characters, there are some nice buffs in Sucrose’s constellations with a massive power spike at level six. Good luck getting there though.

  • Level 1 – Clustered Vacuum Field: Astable Anemohypostasis Creation (her basic ability) gains one additional charge.
  • Level 2 – Beth – Unbound Form: The duration of Forbidden Creation (her ultimate) is increased by two seconds.
  • Level 3 – Flawless Alchemistress: Increases the Level of Astable Anemohypostasis Creation (her basic ability) by three.
  • Level 4 – Alchemania: Every seven Normal and Charged Attacks, Sucrose will reduce the CD of Astable Anemohypostasis Creation (her basic ability) by one to seven seconds..
  • Level 5 – Caution: Standard Flask: Increases the Level of Forbidden Creation (her ultimate) by three.
  • Level 6 – Chaotic Entropy: If Forbidden Creation (her ultimate) triggers an Elemental Absorption, all party members gain a 20 percent Elemental DMG Bonus for the corresponding absorbed element during its duration.

Here’s what you’ll need to maximize Sucrose’s level cap.

  • 1st Ascension (Max Level 20) – 1 Vayuda Turquoise Sliver, 3 Windwheel Asters, 3 Whopperflower Nectar
