Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Haunting of Verdansk event has officially starts tomorrow! Taking Warzone’s massive map, developer Infinity Ward has flooded it with spooky iconography and other surprises for players to discover. Along with new cosmetic bundles (including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw cosmetic packs), players can earn free rewards inside the new Haunted Verdansk game mode. One of these items is the Pumpkin Punisher Grau blueprint which was designed specifically for Warzone. Previously one of the best weapons in the entire game, the Grau suffered a small range nerf to bring it in line with other assault rifles. This doesn’t mean it’s bad, just not broken or unbalanced.
If you are looking to add this weapon blueprint to your collection, you’ll need to do some hunting around Verdansk during the new Halloween event. Here’s how to unlock the Pumpkin Punisher blueprint in Call of Duty: Warzone:
Update 1 – 11:40 P.M. 10/20/2020
It appears that obtaining the Pumpkin Punisher may be bugged. There have been numerous social media posts (and even comments here!) claiming to have completed the quest, but no blueprint was unlocked. This has a high chance of being a bug due to the sheer volume of people sharing their stories.
Original Guide
How to Unlock the Pumpkin Punisher
If you want to unlock the Pumpkin Punisher you’ll need to hunt down all 16 free cosmetics in Warzone. These Halloween-themed items are only obtainable by opening-up Trick or Treat Supply Boxes, which are scattered throughout Verdansk. These are special Supply Boxes that are only available during the event and are located in sixteen key areas on the map. Where the boxes themselves spawn is random, but you will always find one in the areas listed below. Because of this, you’ll want to keep track of what places you’ve visited, so you know which supply boxes are left to open. The box is not special looking and it can be any supply box in that area. Additionally, if you get an item from your box the rest of your team will not earn that reward.
Below is every spot these Trick or Treat Supply boxes will appear:
- Airport
- Boneyard
- Dam
- Downtown
- Hospital
- Lumber Yard
- Military Base
- Novia Granza Hills (Southeast of Promenade West)
- Port
- Prison
- Quarry
- Stadium
- Storage Town
- Superstore
- TV Station
- The Moving Train
Keep in mind, these boxes can be found in Zombie Royale, Haunted Verdansk, and Plunder, so you have a few options if you’re treasure hunting. Personally, I recommend Plunder since you will respawn in the air, making it easier to relocate to different areas. When you load into a game, check the plane’s trajectory on the map before you deploy. To make things easier, head to any of the listed locations that are out of the way to ensure you have less people to contend with. This will also give you a higher chance of opening the box and obtaining the free reward inside.
However, sometimes a box will just reward you with a “trick” instead. This is essentially a jumpscare that replaces the actual rewards and gear. Since there’s no guarantee you’ll get anything, it’s definitely worth trying to hit as many boxes as possible during the event. After November 3rd, the event will end and you won’t be able to unlock the Pumpkin Punisher blueprint. You can track your progress by going to the lobby and selecting the Halloween Event tab. Remember, you have two weeks to unlock this blueprint, so don’t burn yourself out hunting down every box on day one. So long as you play a few games every day, you should have this firearm by the end of Haunted Verdansk.
