Assassin’s Creed Valhalla features a whole lot of vikings, and these vikings really like raiding settlements around England (much to the detriment of the British). You can manually kick off raids with the help of your viking comrades in several points around England, and you’ll earn a few rewards that in turn can really benefit your own settlement. Here’s everything you need to know about raids in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, including how to initiate them, how to complete a raid, and all the rewards you can earn from them.
How to Start a Raid – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Raids
Raids aren’t available in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla until you reach England. In other words, they can’t be accessed until you’ve completed the prologue section in Norway and made it to foreign shores. Once you’ve established a Settlement as part of the early hours of Valhalla’s story, you’ll be tasked with upgrading your settlement by procuring raw materials and supplies.
This is where raids come in. You can begin a raid by reaching one of the designated markers on the map, which are denoted by two red axes. Keep in mind, you can only start a raid from your longship, so if you reach a raid location on foot, you’ll need to call in a longship using your ability wheel.
Take command of your longship, and press the button prompt when near the raid location to initiate the mission. Eivor will sound the special raid horn, and all your fellow vikings will run headlong into a bloody battle against the local English forces.
The actual raid missions themselves are pretty simple. This isn’t like an MMO-style raid, where players need to coordinate precise tactics, but more a rampage against the local forces. Simply put, you need to kill all enemies in the nearby vicinity, which is a lot easier than it sounds considering you’re backed up throughout the raid by a handful of viking warriors, all armed to the teeth.
Slay the opposing forces, and take a moment to look around the Raid location. You’ll notice that there are several glowing gold dots on your HUD, and these denote nearby cargo boxes. To find a cargo box, scan your nearby surroundings to pinpoint it and then work your way to the boxes themselves.
The only potential obstacle in your way here is that sometimes cargo boxes are held behind locked doors, in which case you’ll have to scan your surroundings for a key. Keys will either be on an enemy corpse, or simply hidden somewhere in the vicinity. Finding one is easier than it sounds though, because the key will appear on your scan of your surroundings, and will stay on your HUD even after the scan has completed.
Raid Rewards – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Raids
Find every cargo contained in the raid area, and it’s mission accomplished. Completing a raid rewards you with a set amount of raw materials, which you’ll notice we mentioned earlier are key to levelling up your settlement. In the early hours of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’ll need 30 raw materials every time you want to build a new installment, like barracks or a trading post, as well as 400 supplies.
Otherwise, undertaking raids is a solid way to earn some quick XP. You’ll earn a set amount of XP for every cargo container you open, as well as a big deposit of XP once the raid is complete. If you want to earn some of the best skills to bolster Eivor in Valhalla, we’d recommend undertaking your fair share of raids.
