Apex Packs are Apex Legends‘ version of cosmetic loot boxes. Inside you find lots of visual goodies — including weapon skins, legend skins, quips, banners, and more. They can also include crafting currency. You’ll never find anything in Apex Legends loot boxes that offer a gameplay advantage. That being said, you can get quite an emotional boost from some of these random drops: super rare Apex Legends Heirloom rarity cosmetics.

What is Apex Legends Heirloom Rarity?
Each cosmetic item in Apex Legends comes with an assigned rarity. It’s like pretty much any ongoing game in that way. And most drops fall under the rare, epic, or legendary categories. In fact, these are the only displayed items in the game. Each has a specific chance to appear in any given Apex Pack:
- Rare or better item: 100%
- Epic of better item: 24.8%
- Legendary item: 7.4%
It’s worth noting that rarity can change over time. In its FAQ, Respawn says that the team will recalculate rarities any time the rarity drop rates change. But the good news is that you’ll never get duplicate cosmetics!
Keep cracking open packs, however, and you’re eventually guaranteed to open a pack full of heirloom rarity cosmetics for Wraith. Heirloom items are even rarer than legendary items. There is less than a one percent chance of an Heirloom Set dropping. When it does happen, though, it won’t deduct an Apex Pack. This is purely a bonus!
You cannot craft Heirloom items with crafting materials, however. They will also never appear in the rotating shop from the main Apex Legends menu. It’s all purely about luck.
Throughout your entire career spent leveling up in Apex Legends, you can earn up to a total of 45 Apex Packs for free. This is far short of the Heirloom Set bad luck protection — which requires you to open a whopping 500 packs. But it’s technically better than nothing. If you have awful luck and go 499 packs without opening a set, and assuming you don’t own all of them already, the game is still guaranteed to drop one your next time around.
We do not yet know if the game continues to track your bad luck counter after you earn the only Heirloom set currently in the game.
Heirloom Cosmetics
Speaking of, the only Heirloom Set in Apex Legends right now is the aforementioned one for Wraith. It contains an Heirloom Knife skin, banner pose, and intro quip. So if you don’t like what you see above… Well, don’t go buying 500 Apex Legends loot boxes just for the guaranteed drop.
