Anthem Elysian Stronghold Cache Guide – Stronghold Chest Details

We already know BioWare has some improvements planned for Anthem (scheduled to come later this month). One such new feature are the all-new Anthem Elysian Stronghold Caches. These chests are now placed at the end of strongholds and contain cosmetics (aka vanity items) such as emotes, vinyls, and graphics. Which is nice. The community has been clamoring for more cosmetic options (among other things) since launch.

You can’t just open an Elysian Stronghold Cache, however. There are still a lot of details to be discovered. Our guide will go over all of these steps and hopefully answer a question or two you have along the way.

Anthem Tyrant Mine 3

Anthem Elysian Stronghold Caches

As we mentioned, Elysian Stronghold Caches will be found at the end of all strongholds in Anthem. These spawn only after the group defeats the final boss of each mission, too. That means no more jumping out and disconnecting before your team overcomes a Stronghold completely.

A total of four chests will spawn — one for each player — and each Freelancer can only open one. The good news is that every player gets rewards for each chest, even if you weren’t the person to open it! So there’s an incentive to finish Strongholds with a full group of four players.

Elysian Stronghold Caches in Anthem are also “random exhaustive.” This means that, while the reward you get is entirely random within the pool of available drops, you’re guaranteed to never get a duplicate item. Anyone that’s ever opened a loot box in Dota 2 might recognize the setup.

But that’s not all. Elysian Stronghold Caches also need special keys to be opened. We go over that in the section just below.

Elysian Stronghold Cache Keys

Thus far, the only thing we know about Elysian Stronghold Cache Keys is that you can earn them through Anthem daily challenges. BioWare has not detailed if these challenges will be any more or less difficult than the normal ones. The studio also hasn’t discussed how quickly and/or frequently players will be able to get new keys. We’ll just have to wait and see.

It is possible for one player to open all four caches if they have enough keys, assuming you’re playing with a full squad, of course.

Elysian Stronghold Cache Rewards

Elysian Stronghold Caches contain various Anthem cosmetics including graphics, vinyls, and emotes. They do not, unfortunately, contain armor sets. But they also don’t contain anything relevant to gameplay. So, if you’re only worried about the numbers going up you don’t have to worry.

There are 162 items available to earn. All of which are listed below. It’s worth noting, at least according to BioWare’s blog post, that only 73 of said items (45%) are vanity items. The rest appear to be various crafting parts and material bundles.

Here’s the breakdown: 53 decals, seven fabrics, two leather, two victory animations, three arrival animations, two emotes, and one wrap.

It’s worth noting that BioWare says “Elysian Chests won’t be around forever,” so if you want to collect all of its contents, you’ll need to get out there before whatever comes next. We imagine the chests will rotate their contents from time to time, potentially swapping names. We’ll let you know when we have more details!

In the meantime, feel free to check out our other Anthem coverage! We also have a guide with all of the Anthem Masterwork and Legendary Weapons, another that runs down some important tips regarding things that the game doesn’t tell you, and another that looks at everything BioWare has planned for the first Anthem season.
