Editor’s note: This is the premiere installment of Equipped, an everyday cosplay showcase for character-inspired looks. Enjoy!
Get Over Here…Valentine!
You’ve set the mood with candles, picked out your favorite red wine (blood red, of course), and Sub-Zero is on his way to pick you up for your hot Valentine’s date. All that’s left to do is to find the perfect outfit! But don’t worry, for Valentine’s Day I’ve teamed up with Fanbyte to bring you three Valentine looks inspired by Scorpion from Mortal Kombat! So when Sub Zero pulls up in the driveway you’ll be ready to head to the pit (a tale as old as tiiiiiiiime)!
Looks To Die For…
Look One: Buckle Down
Look Two: Gift-Wrapped Ninja
Look Three: Fatal Blow
Breaking Hearts & Skulls
Is there anything more romantic than a velvet skull handbag? I think not! This amazing skull bag by KillStar will strike up any killer conversation and maybe even spark romance! Let’s just say, your Valentine better have made a reservation at your favorite Hibachi restaurant or they may end up with the same fate (only less velvety).
Bad-ass shoes are key for many things including, but not limited to, date night, skull stomping, high kicks, jump kicks, and getting more range on leg sweeps. So, these are all-occasion pieces of footwear! These Current Mood Nola Boots add 6 inches of height, enough to intimidate your Valentine into getting you everything your heart desires this V-Day. As a side note, these were surprisingly easy to walk in due to the 3 inch platform, I would 10/10 recommend to any undead ninja in need of a shoe upgrade!
Finish the Look
For makeup with this look I decided to go with a bold and glittery smoky eye, thick lashes, and a blood red lip. I used Lorac’s Pirates of the Caribbean palette to create the base eye look, exaggerating my crease and dragging out the smokey edges to the end of my eyebrows. I then went in with NYX Glitter Primer on my lids, and applied the NYX Gold Face & Body Glitter over the primed area. The primer helps the glitter stay in one place and also makes it shine even brighter!
It’s the perfect homage to Scorpion’s killer gold mask. For the lip, I stuck with NYX, using Liquid Suede in shade “Kitten Heels”. To finish off the look I applied thick, fluttery lashes from Foxe Lashes in style “Freyja.”
For the hair, I image Scorpion being pretty practical, loose curls are the perfect small touch to complement a killer outfit. Alternatively, a messy up-do (seen in outfit #3) is the perfect go-to when you’re running late from vengeful Elder Gods and can’t be bothered with styling.
I hope you all enjoyed this look as much as I loved creating it.
